Disaster Recovery Hot Site
In 2008, Avalon Voice & Data launched its Disaster Recovery Hot Site in Cork.
The unit, which is 20 minutes from Cork City Centre can accommodate up to 100 people in the event of a company’s premises being hit by a disaster event.
Disaster comes in many guises: fire, flood, storm damage, utility outage, systems loss, people loss and many more. Any loss event is an opportunity for disaster. How long can you be “away from the market” before your business objectives are materially impacted? How long before permanent un-recoverable damage is done to your revenue or reputation? Insurance offers financial compensation but does not ensure your company survives a disaster.
In the event of a disaster denying access to their premises, our customers will need access to operating software, data, communications hardware and a place from which to operate. Our solution, supported by a local engineering team, provides companies with an office location to smoothly continue their business following an interruption to their operations. The initial reaction to the service is strong with a vast range of customers taking up the service, from small companies to multinationals with up to 500 employees based in Cork.
Business Continuity Planning, (BCP) is critical for companies working through a disaster scenario. Through advance planning, the business owner is brought through a series of processes that will help reduce the risk exposure to serious business disruption. The main focus of this code of practice is to determine a company’s business continuity strategy for its Staff, Premises, Communications, Equipment, Information, and Suppliers. Following a detailed review, companies tend to put capacity in place for 30% to 50% of their total staff count.
The concept of a Business Continuity Centre is not a new one, but, no other local supplier is offering such a service supported by a strong engineering team based in Cork
